NC Quilt Symposium

Liam and I visited the 2009 NC Quilt Symposium this morning.  It was crowded and hot but fun.  A lot of beautiful quilts (most of them weren’t really my style but I still thought they were pretty).

A couple of my favorites…

The cutest little double wedding ring.  Under 7″x 9″.  My hands ache just thinking about the small pieces!

Jane of course.  I think it’s mandatory for every quilt show to have at least one.

I loved the colors and swirl on this one.

There was another pretty rainbow one that I apparently didn’t take a picture of.

My boss (errr, that would be me) has been cracking the whip this week.  Hopefully I’ll have something to show soon!

‘Ning

I’ve mentioned before that Liam isn’t talking much.  His receptive speech is great.  Cognitively he’s fine.  He just doesn’t retain (or so we can tell at least) any of the words or sounds he imitates.  He’s just too darn stubborn and doesn’t care to use words and insteads whines the most annoying whine when he wants something.  If one refuses to give into his whines a power struggle ensues and he is incredibly determined to win every struggle.  What a booger…

Liam, Sean and I went to lunch the other day (and oddly enough ran into Cathy who pulled into the spot right next to us right after we pulled in.  Hi Cathy!).  Liam wanted a bite of the cookie.  He whined as a way to ask for it.  I responded, “Liam, use a word.”  He responded, “Word!”  He got the cookie.  Cr@p. I’m posting a picture of me.  I never post pictures of me.

Liam is also obsessed with cars (and can say ‘car’).  Previously, they didn’t have to be Cars(tm) cars, anything with wheels worked.  He has in the past week become completely obsessed with Lightening McQueen (whose name we had never used until this week).  Well apparently Liam can retain and use certain words if he is motivated enough.  Lightening McQueen now has  his own name in Liamese.  He is now “‘Ning.”

Notice the Wall-e shirt?  And the ‘Ning sticker?  And 2 ‘Ning books?  Obsessive much Liam?

A while ago he was whining about something and I told him he needed to use words.  He toddled away only to come back a minute later and shout at me, “WORD!!”

The final one!
