Maeve: 1 Kindergarten: 0

She was so excited this morning that she bounced her way to the bus stop.

(I can’t believe I let her ride the bus.  I still have her in a 5-point harness in the car.  Gah!  What was I thinking?)

She isn’t a fan of photos lately but I told her today I had to take pictures.  I promised her a pedicure and she agreed.  So I got my pictures and now she has yellow (yes, yellow) toenails.

Between the heavy backpack with all the school stuff and the steep hill I was afraid she was going to fall backwards.

And there she goes.

Afterwards Liam and I went out and passed the school (we pass it about a million times a day as we can’t really get anywhere without passing it first) and I totally wanted to go in and check on her.  Sean told me I couldn’t.  Hrumph.

Apparently she fell asleep during naptime.  And she was still exhausted when she got home. I felt like a nap this afternoon too.  School starts really early!  Yawn…

But she (and I) survived.  The first words out of her mouth were,  “I stayed sitting on the bus!!”  (Our conditions for her riding the bus were she had to sit, listen to the bus driver and learn our street name.)

She came home to a snack of cookies and milk and talked non-stop about all the coolness.  Our school does a staggered entry so she’s home for the rest of the week and goes all week next week.  And then Liam starts three mornings a week the week after.  Sniff (and yay!).

Oh and the hair?  School pictures are in three weeks.  Grow hair!  Grow!

You always have such great pics of your kids. I think I really need to work on my picture-taking skills. In my spare time, of course! I also like the one of Liam with the broccoli stickers on his forehead that’s in your previous post.

Lucas starts JK in September. I only hope he’s half as happy as Maeve looks. He’s already starting to make comments about not wanting to go! Sigh!

Well I might get payback next week when the clingy-mama’s-boy starts preschool…

I’ll be curious to hear how you make out. “Clingy-mama’s-boy” sums up Lucas for sure. It’s wonderful most times, but does have its drawbacks too.
