When I Grow Up…

Posted on by in Kids, Life

From Maeve’s first-day-of-school interview:

I approve!

I should really post something more quilt related around here, eh? It’s been a v-e-r-y l-o-n-g couple weeks around here and everytime I sit down to write something it sounds so grumpy so I’m keeping my mouth shut. 😉

And please don’t get me started of the gross overuse of Comic Sans in elementary school paperwork (my doctor’s office is quite fond of it too).  Ugh.  I think I need to purchase a t-shirt and wear it to a PTA meeting… you know, the PTA that sells t-shirts with the school name on it in Comic Sans.  I’m having nightmares from my working days where clients tried to be designers and insisted that I use Comic Sans <shudder>.  I shall climb down off my tangent of a soapbox now.  This makes me sound grumpy.  This is why it’s been quiet around here. 😉

I share your grudge against all things comic sans. The worst to me is the business signs… Aahhh!!

  2. Viv says:

Oh, that’s lovely. I hope my daughter wants to be a quilter too.

I agree! I will revolt with you again comic sans! It’s amazing how just because there are 100 different fonts on word people think that they need to use them all!

  4. Natys says:

Thats so sweet!!!!!!! I can imagine your face when you read it

  5. Rita says:

Too cute! A girl after my own heart.
One of the good things about comic sans is that it utilizes the style of lower case “a” that children are learning to write. When my son was first learning to read he found the “a” and “g” letters that are typically used in print confusing.

  6. Nadia Lewis says:

Our corporate lawyer at work insists on using it and it makes me want to gouge out my eyes.

Rita makes a good point about the a’s and g’s. We were having that problem with Maeve sometime last year and I searched through every font I had to find one the a’s and g’s she knew. I was determined to find one that was not Comic Sans! Thankfully I succeeded!

Not grumpy, very hilarious. I agree wholeheartedly!
