Unmixing Remix: Maeve’s Choice — Part 4
I left today’s preview of Quilt Remix up to Miss Maeve. She is quite the quilt expert at age 6.
So with cameras and quilt in hand the two of us set out on a picture taking adventure.
Meet my take on the Lone Star quilt. I love the diamond shapes and the rings of color. The seams on the other hand I do not like. So I took the two shining features and came up with this while leaving out the daunting features of the original pattern.
The light was just perfect for this shot. I just had to keep Maeve off the tree stump for 4.2 seconds so I could snap some shots first.
Despite the lack of people in these shots, there were actually a lot of people out and about. I sure did get some odd looks while flinging my quilt on driftwood, rocks, stones, beach, NOAA signs, concrete pilars, etc. Shockingly, the quilt did actually come home clean. Phew.
Bonus! This quilt doubles as a cape for Supergirl. (It also has instructions for four quilt sizes.)
The other version of this quilt appears on the cover.
The book is now available for purchase in the shop.

Oh, MUCH prettier and doable than a Lone Star. Those have their place, but yours here will be welcomed in more places, I bet. *S*
Really gorgeous. Also, Maeve was a runner-up name for our daughter. I just love it. 🙂
Hello,
Your quilts are so beautiful, fun and “out of the box.” Love the patterns and color ways you made them in. How do you think these would play out in men’s shirting scraps? I just received a huge stash of plaid and stripe 100% cotton shirts and I am looking for quilt ideas. I have Bonnie K. Hunters book, Scraps and Shirttails, but I really like your quilts too. I know I have enough shirts and fabric from my stash, to do many quilts.
Thanks for your time,
Maeve is just so sweet! I love the bright, happy colors in this one 🙂
Hi Emily,
Well I absolutely love what you have done with your take on all this! The “deconstruction” you’ve achieved with the traditional and beloved quilt patterns just warms my New Millennium heart.
Loved hearing about your process with C & T as well…I’m a newbie author with them myself, with my book coming out this winter and debuting at Market this May. So your experience was fun for me to read.

There it is, up on Amazon!
I LOVED C & T’s entire process and had great editors and a fab book designer to work with. For me too, the hard part was staying mum about everything; I needed a “cover story” for my blog, while I was going full tilt on the book under the radar.
Best wishes for your fabulous book…

I absolutely love these quilts. I think I may have to have the book.
Congratulations on your book. I love your patterns and quilts.
OH…your quilts are beautiful, and love the Storm at Sea one. Congratulations on your new book.
Hello Emily,
Oh what a beautiful place to have a photo shoot. Your little assistant is so cute wrapped up in that quilt. Good luck with the book sales.
Happy days.

Congratulations on your book. Maeve’s choice is also my choice of the favorite quilt from the book.
I love the colors in your lone star quilt. It turned out so beautiful!!
