Pixel Play: 15 Quilt Projects for Kids, Family & Home
Pixel Play — set to be release in August 2012 — is a collection of patterns perfect for families and kids — from the family room, to the bedroom to the nursery — for boys and girls, both young and young at heart. We start with whimsy, fun and color and go from there. Like pirates and treasure maps? Pixel Play’s got ’em. Into planes, trains, automobiles? Pixel Play has a place for them to go to town, so to speak. But I don’t want to spoil all of it — discovering is half the fun, right?
This book has been in the works since before Quilt Remix was released. Baby Liam would snuggle up while Maeve was at school and he’d watch in wonder as pictures came together before his eyes. Sewing started shortly after the move and Liam was quite distressed when his favorite of the projects went into a box.
The quilt above is The Favorite. So much so that when the boxes came back from photographing, he immediately knew what was in them. He searched through the piles of quilts to find “his” quilt. He then hauled it down the hallway to his room and put it on his bed. It’s still there. While I usually keep the work quilts separate from the home quilts, I couldn’t bring myself to take this one away from him. After all, he was the recipient of the original crib-sized design — his birthday quilt when he turned three (mentioned, but no picture).
I’ll share more closer to the release date (August 2012), but get your stack of Konas ready ’cause it’s gonna be fun.
It’s available for pre-order on Amazon if you’re really itching to get started.

Woohoo! Just in time for everybody to make Christmas presents!
[end subtle hint]
There’s always a silver lining, right? I wasn’t familiar with you until I saw Kate Spain’s blog post tonight. I live a few hours away (love finding other Mid-Atlantic quilters!) so I perused your blog a bit. When I saw the first Pixel Play photo I thought, “What a clever idea!” When I saw Liam with the road quilt, I added the book to my Amazon wishlist.
So, while I’m sad for both you and Kate that you had to deal with some legal mess, I am happy to be a new fan of yours as of tonight!
Err, well, I saw the post of Liam running around Duke and combined with your blog name, assumed you were there. But I just got a little further and see you’re in Washington. Well, I like you anyway!
This books looks fantastic, well done on more amazing quilts.
This looks amazing. 🙂
seriously.
That quilt is WONDERFUL! Can’t wait to see the book, you are an inspiration!
oh, so that’s the quilt G and I weren’t allowed to see in Liam’s room that day we came over. :> so glad to see things are headed in a right direction…
I too found out about you when reading about the dispute on another blog. I hope that the both of you are able to work things out. I think that you can only prosper from this though. I love the patterns I see and will definitely be on the lookout for them in the future (and I’m sure that others will discover you now too). Absolutely love the GROOVE pattern–very cool.
I am so excited for this! I love your pixel quilts. I have your other books and have just pre-ordered this one. Thanks for all your great work!
