What’s indigo you ask? Well an “official” explanation:

Indigo is a color named after the purple dye derived from the plant Indigofera tinctoria and related species. The color is placed on the electromagnetic spectrum between about 420 and 450 nm in wavelength, placing it between blue and violet.

indigo

This is where the book strayed from roy g biv. Indigo is technically inbetween blue and purple. But all of my fabric that was somewhere inbetween blue and purple? It got stuck with blue or purple. But there were tons of fabric scraps that had no where to go — the blacks, browns, greys and really dark blues (what I always associate with indigo). This is where the real world diverges from theory and we just make the quilts look good.

Let’s see what John @ QuiltDad has to say about indigo (and brown and black and grey).

-

Indigo (and brown and black and grey) to me? Well, we live in Seattle. So let’s the stereotypes begin!

Dude, we rock the grey.

But don’t forget, there’s a whole heck of a lot of blue too.  But blue was yesterday — can’t talk about blue today.

Just one more day on our colorful little blog tour!

Blue.

blue

When this party was being organized, everyone got to pick their favorite colors. Except Scott and Kathy. Scott had to be blue. Kathy had to be pink. No questions asked. Thankfully they played along with my craziness.

Let’s see what Scott @ Blue Nickel Studios has to say about blue.

-

Blue is many things to me. Though I didn’t think I used that much blue fabric, I ended up with one heck of a huge bucket of it.

Blue is the bottom middle. Along with white on the left and selvedges on the right. Lots of blue.

Do you like blue? I have something awesome in blue coming up… scheduled for 10/13. You have to see it.

Also coming up in the blog queue — Scott’s Quiltuberfest! I practiced for the fine occasion last night at a local pub’s Oktoberfest celebration — oompah band and all. No lederhosen though. That I would have gotten a picture of.

My day is 10/15. Stay tuned.

Today: green.

green

Let’s hop on over to see what Melissa Burt @ Connecting Threads has to say about green.

-

Green to me is growth. Life. The grass in the spring. The leaves on a tree. The moss that grows on any surface imaginable (in Seattle at least). And the food:

(root end of some napa cabbage)
