Napping with the Pixelated Princess
Kindy starts in just a week and a half and a towel for nap/rest time was on our list of items to send to school. Though the ease of buying a princess towel was tempting, I had to go the more difficult route.
Meet Sleeping Beauty. Yes, a videogame style Aurora.
(She’s hiding from the camera.)
Welcome to Kindergarten. Now put your name on e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
Some detail.
There are two skin tones, three pinks in the dress and three golds in her hair. It was pretty difficult to pixelize such a complex drawing that had so much dimension. Getting Mario at the right resolution is a *lot* easier. The hardest part was the eyes but I think they came out ok. Defintely better than some of the earlier iterations of her. I won’t share those.
Liam had to test out the blanket too. (Funny thing. Liam is wearing his pixelated Space Invaders-ish PJs.)
Apparently he approved.
So Maeve is happily snuggled up with her new quilt in bed tonight. I wonder how long it will take her to ask for one for home once this one goes to school…

I love it! Oh, my oldest is going to kindergarten too, but not until after labor day. She will feel like she is at home during her rest time! What a great idea. I’m thinking maybe I could tackle a MUCH simpler version. 🙂
That is so cool! Good job.
Hey Emily, this reminds me – as I don’t think you are checking out the older boy section of Gap Kids, they have a big boy backpack that is pixelated spaceships and stuff. Totally reminded me of you! They are on sale for 30% off now too. 😉
Oooops — left my quilt comment under the Ipod App. Your poor hubby – all quilts, all the time. Sorry.
That backpack is pretty cool! I got Liam a Wall-E one the other day even though he doesn’t need it. Sigh.
Emily, that’s so cool! I can’t let A. see it… her kindergarten towel just won’t compete! lol. How wonderful that Maeve will have such a special reminder of Mommy’s love right there with her in class every day. You’re such a great mom.
Your quilt is just beautiful! Did you do her name by hand? I’m trying to figure out how to put my niece’s name on a quilt I’m making her, any tips? =)
Wow, She’ll be the envy of all the other little girls in her class. She’ll always feel safe and happy with a piece of your love near by.
